OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! I suppose there comes a point in every pregnancy when you are smacked upside the head with how very real this whole baby thing is...well today is that day! My due date is two months from tomorrow. And we have accomplished very little in the preparations for our princess. She has some clothes to wear when she comes home, a bath tub in which to be bathed and an empty---painted---room. But we have no way to get her home from the hospital...no where for her to sleep when she gets there and pretty much none of the other stuff you would expect new parents to have!
I know that I should not flip out too much because we do still have two months, but at the same time...we only have two months! Two months is not that long in the big scheme of things. But surely it is enough time to finish our preparations!
Doctors appointments have been going well and I have been feeling fine for the most part. Overall, this whole pregnancy hasn't been as hard as I expected it to be...of course I hear the last two months are the worst so we will see how I feel in February!
Well...Just wanted to pop in and say Merry Christmas and give everyone a quick update!

The Annual Halloween Bash
This past Saturday was our annual Halloween Party. Overall, it was a wonderful time. We actually drank almost all of the witches brew for the first time ever (which really says something for the drinkers in attendance). Pictures are included for fun...the haze in some of the pics are the result of Bruce's very effective new fog machine.
Best Male Costume...Bill (Anyone get a good picture of Bill?)
Best Female Costume...Star
Best Couple...Mom and Dad Smith
Funniest Costume...Carl

Viva Las Vegas!
Well, we are back and I finally think I have caught up on sleep. Surprise, surprise, nobody won millions on our trip, but we had a fantastic time none the less! Vegas did not take any more money from us than we had budgetted and we got to see some wonderful sites and eat some amazing food while we were there. Four days was long enough for my poor back and feet though....I didn't think I was going to be able to walk for a month after tromping all over that city. It is absolutely amazing how out of scale everything is in Vegas...you look down the strip and think oh that's not that far, but in actuality it is just the enormous buildings fooling your mind. Here are some fun pictures to remember the trip! Enjoy!

20 Weeks
Well folks, its official...I have made it half-way! It's amazing...it seems as though time has flown by. It's as though just yesterday we were finding out we were pregnant. Now that we have reached the half-way mark, things seem a lot more real (I am sure that has a little something to do with finding our we are having a girl). We only have 20 weeks (give or take a week or so) left to finish all the projects on our to do list; we only have 20 weeks to prepare for our little princess and we only have 20 weeks to sleep!
There is a lot to accomplish in just 20 short weeks, but I have faith that we will succeed. We have already finished a few things that were pretty high on my priority list (registering, painting and installing the stove) so I feel as though we are making headway. The nursery is my next goal...but it will have to wait until we return from Vegas. Hopefully Bruce will win big and we can use that money to make some of our projects NOT do it yourself projects! A girl can dream--can't she?!?
In other venues of our lives (surprisingly life isn't ALL about baby)...
Bruce and I are headed to Las Vegas next week with Ken, Star, Kim, Bill, and John. We are going to celebrate Ken's 30th birthday (man, he's old)! Both of us are very excited for the trip...Bruce has never been there and I haven't been since I was 13...I am sure we will have a blast and promise to post a few pictures when we return.
We are just three weeks away from our annual Halloween party; which will be an amazing time as always. Invites are going out today! I am really struggling to come up with a good costume this year, but am looking forward to seeing everyone elses creative creations. I wonder who will win the costume contest this year...
That is about all that is new in the life of this Wilcoxon Family. Until next time!

Barbies and Princesses......Here we come!
Well, we had the Dr's appt. and ultrasound this morning at 10:15, and it was about 10:23 when I found out the we are having a girl. As some of you know, Katie and I had differing opinions about the gender of the baby. Katie thought it was going to be a girl, and I, of course, thought we were having a boy. I should have, like any smart man, listened to her maternal instincts. However, I continued in my belief that she was having a boy. So, we made a deal that the person proved wrong at today's ultrasound had to post. Therefore, let this post prove post as an incontrovertible statement of my being wrong. I was wrong in my belief that we were having a boy. But, I have to say, I have never minded being wrong more than I did when I saw my daughter's heart beat this morning.
Ok! With that done, on a side note, Katie and I were discussing the possibility that the baby would not participate during the ultrasound and we wouldn't be able to find out the sex. My comment to Katie was that even without the baby cooperating, we would know if it was a boy.
Because if it was my son, even with his back to the ultrasound, we'd still be able to see proof of his manhood peeking up over his shoulder. I'll leave you with this wonderful image.

My turn :)
So, here's my first post on the blog. I'm very excited to find the sex of the baby on Monday! I hope you're voting if you have an opinion. I've cast mine, but of course will be happy either way. We'll be posting pictures of the ultrasound when we have them. Also, Katie and I have already picked out names for both a boy and a girl, but I'm curious if anyone has any ideas (aside from Wrigley Fields or Clark Addison). Please post any ideas you might have for the little ones names. If we get some good ones, we might even tell you the names we've picked.

The First Entry...
Well, I think everyone knows by now, but if not...We're Pregnant! The baby is due February 23rd. We will find out on October 1st if it is a boy or a girl...very excited for that. I will post Ultrasound pictures after we find out.
How We Found Out
It was June 23rd and I had been feeling a little strange for about a week and I was late. With the miscarriage just a few months earlier, my doctor had told me things might be off for a little while...but I figured it was better to know than to wonder. So I took a test. Immediately the second line (the one that says "you're pregnant") showed up. We were ecstatic, but at the same time petrified. It had only been two months since my miscarriage and the doctor told us to wait at least three. There were all sorts of emotions that came with the discovery of this pregnancy, but the overwhelming feeling was one of great joy that we had another chance so soon.
How We Told
Despite the fact that it was INCREDIBLY difficult...we didn't want to go shouting from the mountain top right away. The next day was my dad's birthday and I made him a birthday card that came from his grandchild...it took him a minute to figure out what I was saying, but him and my mom were very excited. Bruce called his parents that day and shared the good news, but asked that they keep it from the rest of his family. We were still undecided on whether or not we were telling siblings at that point. We had a doctors appointment on July 5th and were thinking about waiting til then. But...that didn't exactly happen. I ended up telling Ken and Star sooner because we were planning on going white water rafting during our trip to NC and I had to cancel that. We ended up telling Bruce's brothers on 4th of July because we were down there and it was so much better to tell in person. But we kept the secret from most of our friends and family until I made it past 12 weeks. I was very proud of myself; since we all know I am not the greatest at keeping secrets!
Now
So, for anyone who may just be finding out via this blog, I
apologize profusely, but with all the secrecy it did get a little difficult to keep track of who knows and who doesn't. I believe we have informed everyone, but I am sure there are a few we missed. We are very excited and looking forward to February. I will be 18 weeks on Saturday. It is hard to believe I am almost half way there. At this point I am really starting to show; which is exciting considering up until recently it just looked like I had been eating too many donuts! :)
Future
My plan is to use this blog to keep all of our wonderful friends and family spread throughout the world posted as our family grows. I will use the blog to share photos and stories with all of you! I am just learning about the features of blogger...as I just created the site today so my posts MAY get more advanced as my knowledge progresses.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
